Estes são modos de falha — o termo que a engenharia usa para as maneiras específicas pelas quais um sistema correto no papel produz um resultado errado na prática. O exame existe para identificar quais deles estão operando no seu filho, e com que peso.
O procedimento que para um passo antes. O aluno monta a conta certa, executa quase tudo, e entrega o penúltimo resultado. Não é erro de conta. É ausência de uma releitura final do enunciado: o que exatamente foi pedido?
O atributo verdadeiro, mas não pedido. A alternativa marcada é matematicamente correta sobre o problema — só não responde à pergunta feita. Marca a média quando o item pede a amplitude; marca uma raiz quando o item pede a outra; marca o valor quando o item pede o tempo. O mesmo movimento reaparece na leitura: escolher o que o texto diz sobre o que o texto faz.
A regra de preenchimento que ninguém ensinou. As questões de resposta digitada têm regras próprias de formato. Um aluno que resolveu tudo certo perde o ponto por escrever a resposta de um jeito que o campo não aceita. É a perda mais barata de recuperar e a que mais irrita quando aparece no laudo.
A decisão que não volta ao texto. Na leitura, o aluno decide bem e não homologa a decisão: não procura a linha que sustenta a resposta. Quando a alternativa plausível e a alternativa sustentada divergem, ele marca a plausível.
Nenhum dos quatro se corrige com mais horas de estudo, porque nenhum dos quatro é falta de conteúdo. Todos se corrigem com um protocolo específico — curto, nomeado, treinável. É por isso que o exame vem antes do plano.
O laudo diz quais desses modos estão presentes, quanto cada um custa, e em qual ordem tratar. Ter nome é o que torna cada padrão tratável: deixa de ser “meu filho vai mal em matemática” e vira um alvo específico.

These are failure modes — the term engineering uses for the specific ways in which a system that is correct on paper produces a wrong result in practice. The exam exists to identify which of them are operating in your child, and with what weight.
The procedure that stops one step short. The student sets up the right computation, executes almost all of it, and hands in the second-to-last result. It is not an arithmetic error. It is the absence of a final re-reading of the prompt: what exactly was asked?
The attribute that is true, but not asked for. The option marked is mathematically correct about the problem — it simply does not answer the question that was asked. He marks the mean when the item asks for the range; marks one root when the item asks for the other; marks the value when the item asks for the time. The same movement reappears in reading: choosing what the text says over what the text does.
The entry rule nobody taught. Student-produced response questions have formatting rules of their own. A student who solved everything correctly loses the point for writing the answer in a way the field does not accept. It is the cheapest loss to recover and the one that is most irritating when it shows up in the report.
The decision that never goes back to the text. In reading, the student decides well and does not confirm the decision: he does not look for the line that supports the answer. When the plausible option and the supported option diverge, he marks the plausible one.
None of the four is corrected with more study hours, because none of the four is a lack of content. All four are corrected with a specific protocol — short, named, trainable. That is why the exam comes before the plan.
The report states which of these modes are present, how much each one costs, and in which order to treat them. Having a name is what makes each pattern treatable: it stops being “my son is bad at math” and becomes a specific target.
